Midtown NYC’s legendary Irish sports bar & restaurant

for more than two decades

Located just steps from NYC’s Madison Square Garden, Midtown’s legendary Irish gastropub, Mustang Harry’s, has been an iconic Seventh Avenue fixture for more than two decades, cementing itself as a go-to favorite amongst locals, sports fans, concert goers, alike. Run by brothers Ian and Niall Conroy of County Tipperary, Ireland, Mustang Harry’s has defined itself as a flocked-to NYC dining destination, far exceeding any preconceived notions of “pub fare” with its elevated menu of handcrafted cuisine; and become a mainstay amongst connoisseurs with its comprehensive selection of artisanal cocktails, craft beers, curated wines, and extensive collection of fine spirits from around the globe, including more than 200 varieties of whiskeys and tequilas.

The venue’s post-industrial motif creates an inviting ambiance with tufted leather banquets, reclaimed wood walls, cozy nooks, and antique fixtures that capture the rustic charisma of turn-of-the-century NYC with winks of Irish charm—while its impressive 99-foot main bar decked with 16 HDTVs and premium surround throughout the sweeping two-floor space to create the ultimate game-viewing experience.

Mustang Harry’s is located at 352 7th Avenue in close proximity to Penn Station and local attractions such as the Empire State Building and Herald Square. It is open seven days a week for breakfastlunch and dinner, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch.

  • 5 star ratingReserved here for lunch on 3/16/19 with a group of 8. Far less crowded than a lot of places since it was St. Patrick's Day weekend, so that was a plus! Bar was huge, restaurant clean, food was really good..LOVED  the calamari! Staff were friendly and efficient. Will definitely be a repeat customer when in the city.

  • 5 star ratingOwner Niall Conroe really knows how to treat his customers. We walked in inquiring about Happy Hour. The hostess said it was over at 6. So we were leaving, Niall comes behind us and offers to extend the Happy Hour to us and gives us VIP treatment. Let's just say, our 1 drink turned into 4. His service and hospitality made our visit all worth while! We will definitely be back and bring some more friends.

  • 4 star ratingSo we came here because it was close to Madison square garden and we were going to a show ... I made reservations because I knew that places around events and at happy hr time can get packed and I was right.

Unfortunately the traffic was horrible that day - and even tho I called that was was running a lil late- by the time I parked in the deck across the street and came in- I arrived 20 mins after my reservation. Also the table they were going to give us was going to be upstairs - unfortunately my sister who was ubering from another location - broke her foot and had one of those scooters so it was be impossible to get her to the upstairs floor. I get it- the front desk was annoyed with me but these were the circumstances and it was also my sister's bday that I wrote on the reservation. Anyway they didn't have any 3 seats downstairs even though I saw plenty of seating lol. Anyway I opted to take the two seater and I would stand but when our sweet waitress came over - I told her the situation - she talked to her boss Nile and he gave us a better table with three seats like no problem!!!!

Awesome . We were situated by the time by sister arrived. I don't remember the other waitress's name but I was very thankful.  Our new waitress Rachael was also a gem- attentive and friendly.

I had the Harry's Martini twice cuz it was super yummy. But step pops had a beer and sister had wine

They ordered the burgers and I got the fried chicken sandwich. They said they liked their meal. The chicken sandwich and fries were ok but I ate it because I was so hungry since it was the only thing I ate that day.

Out waitress Rachael was able to figure out my sly cryptic non verbal movements to get a Birthday dessert for my sister in which her and her coworkers helped sing happy birthday for my sister . It was a success! My sister had a string of bad luck including breaking her ankle 2 days before birthday and her long awaited tickets to see John Mayer at Garden .

    So this is my breakdown
    Food 3/4
    Drink 4

Service 5 by Nile, Rachael and the other waitress who helped us get a better table!!! Thank you so much

  • 5 star ratingThe food and atmosphere was awesome. We were visiting from Baltimore and wanted to catch the Ravens game after watching a show on broadway. We had a group of six and got there midway into third quarter and the wait was only a few minutes. The place was packed.. food was excellent! We loved the lamb lollipops, calamari, Brussels sprouts, fish tacos, beef lettuce wraps and fish tacos. Niall the owner was very friendly and so was our waitress... we highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a fun atmosphere!

  • 3 star ratingService was good, as we had a large party.  The temperature , it was extremely hot, and they did turn on the air for us.  Initially when I arrived, I sat at the bar, and the bar tender needs to be more attentive to his customers.  I was trying to flag him down for a beer.  Someone else came in, and sat to my left and got served right away.
The food, nothing g to write home about - the appetizers, sliders, calamari and chicken wings, standard.  I ordered the Shepherds Pie, and it was bland, lacked seasoning--wouldn't order again.  Again, the server for our table was very good. The bartender and food, not so much.

  • 4 star ratingi can't claim that we sampled a lot of food here or spent a lot of time, but i enjoyed the ambiance, the service was impeccable, and the "bar food"/appetizers that we had were flavorful and satisfying.

my dinner companion raved about the disco fries, which i had never had, but i found them a little short on the meat since i was on a hunt for protein.  the brussel sprouts, which we ordered after seeing another review here, were delicious, although the bacon was mushy, and i hate mushy bacon.  i'm not sure what the solution would be to keeping the bacon crispy, but i would recommend that the chef figure something out.  both of those dishes were a little greasy as well -- especially the brussel sprouts -- but i guess that's bar food for you.

the chicken-nuggety things really hit the spot for me.  i don't know if they use a house hot sauce but it was delicious, and the nuggets were meaty and crispy and not greasy, as some can be.

it was a great place to stop for something quick and gratifying to the palate, as you bop around the penn station area in your manhattan wanderings!

  • 3 star ratingThe beer selection is meh.  While I like hip-hop sometimes.  Hearing it so loud I couldn't have a conversation with my company was annoying.  It didn't seem to match the mood/vibe of the bar.  The bar tender must really like it or something.

  • 1 star ratingWorst service! Sat for 10 mins with not even a hello. Had to ask for a server twice. Go elsewhere and save yourself the trouble of this place.

Have been here before and the service was slow. This time was so bad I left.

  • 1 star ratingMy family has a reservation tonight for 6:30. They called to confirm and we did. We were a party of 10 coming from upstate and had delays due to the train and taxi ride over. When we got there at 6:15, we were told our table was given away. There was no offer to give us another table, we even offered to be split up.
Front desk staff was rude and condescending.

  • 1 star ratingMade reservations for this restaurant. We had to wait an additional 45 mins. The short guy at the front desk was really rude and didn't care that we were pushed back. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else where they sat our party and we made it to our show ontime.

  • 4 star ratingLet's talk about Mustang Harry's! This is a bar in Chelsea that's close to MSG and Penn Station. Despite there not being a game or big event, there was a decent crowd on a regular Saturday afternoon. The place is dark, but lively.

My mom and I were seated at a high top and we ordered drinks and shareables. We ordered the roasted cauliflower salad along with the loaded chicken nachos to get a delicate balance of healthy and unhealthy. Portions were decently sized without being Cheesecake Factory-esque.

The roasted cauliflower salad was fresh and tasted well made, without being overly dressed or adorned. All the flavors and greens complimented each other well and made it feel like you weren't eating pure pub food. The nachos were also awesome! Chicken was a little on the dry/plain side, but this was made up for the fact that these nachos were covered in cheese, black beans, salsa, sour cream and jalapeño, so all the accompanying accoutrements brought the whole dish together.

Service was, admittedly, a little slow. It took a little time for us to be seated, get food and drinks, and get our check. I have a pretty vivid memory of us clearing our check before a server came and cleared our empty plates. Maybe a slow day?

Otherwise, this is a decent find close to MSG, so be sure to stop before games, concerts, or even happy hour.

  • 5 star ratingClassy bar with great food and service We spent a week in NYC and stayed in a hotel around the corner. After trying several other bars, we found this gem. The bar has a nice feel and the service was warm and friendly.

The slow cooked rib is amazing - so tender and delicious. We also enjoyed the Caesar salad and the wings.

We went back for drinks and food several times over the week.

Thanks Kevin, Liam, Niall and Ian for such friendly and welcoming service.

  • 5 star ratingThis restaurant is our favorite restaurant near Penn Station and  Madison Garden.  Everything here is top notch. Especially the service. All the waitservice is courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambience is casual and the food is outstanding. The selection is gourmet with choices for bar food and entrees. There are also daily specials. I love the menu because the chef made sure to include a vegan dish with farro  grain and vegetables which I really like. There  are other choices which are the usual vegetarian too like salads etc.   In addition the menu includes more standard fare like steak and seafood. Besides this the bartenders are experts at making delish cocktails and there is a full choice of alcholic drinks too, like beers and wines. This restaurant would be great for a date or to go to before an event at the Garden. Hope you go there soon.
